About Our Company Name - Please note that this section is currently under construction.

At the bottom of this website, the copyright notice says McGregor and Associates Inc.  At the top of the page, the logo says McGregor SurMount, and our website address is www.mcgregor-surmount.com.  So why do we use these different names?  Well, we don't do it with the intent of confusing anyone, but we realize that this can sometimes result in confusion.  This page aims to clear some of that up for you.

Our company originally began as McGregor and Associates Inc.  The McGregor-SurMount name was born many years ago when we first started getting into the field of surface-mounted parts.  At that time, we started a subsidiary company called SurMount Corporation.  We created the McGregor-SurMount name in order to link the two entities together in the minds of our customers, so that they would know we were all part of the same group.  It was never a legal company name, but was created as an alias to link the two companies together into one name.

In more recent years, when we decided to do away with the SurMount corporation name, we were left with only one legal company name, which is McGregor and Associates Inc.  The problem was, many of our customers still knew us by the SurMount or McGregor-SurMount names.  We decided to continue hanging on to the McGregor-SurMount name for familiarity.  The reason that the copyright notice at the bottom of the screen says McGregor and Associates Inc., is that this is the actual legal name of our company, while McGregor-SurMount remains the informal name of our organization.

We hope this helps to clear up any confusion about our company name.
